I think this is a great website and goes a long way toward uniting people and giving people a very positive way of looking at life.

How's it going everyone? Just wanted to inform all of our supporter near and far about the meeting on 4/11/2008. Including myself, 11 bros. attended; 6 guys from the first meeting and 6 new guys. In addition to meeting and greeting one another, our agenda was an informative session(sharing helpful agencies, resources & programs for individuals w/disabilities.) Once again, thanks for the continued support and your sharing with others about Brothers Keeper S.C.I. support group.

Dear Mr. Clark: It was a pleasure meeting you last week at the Reporting Center event. As I had told you, I can only imagine the impact that you must have on youth who are exposed to violence and gangs on a daily basis.

Thanks for giving me such hope that we can do a lot for these kids. I would love to have you meet some of the kids in a boys club that I run over in East St. Louis. I know that you will have a great impact on them... I look forward to hearing from you. (Family Court Judge)

'Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small doesn't serve the world.

There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so

that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,

we unconsciously give other

people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,

our presence automatically liberates others.'

Hello to our new and preexisting supporters! As a result of word of mouth, flyers/brochures, mass media and the world wide web, Brother's Keeper SCI is really getting around the community and beyond. We Wanted to update you on some of the outreach projects we've been involved in: Every other Monday, we're colaborating with Mathews Dickey Boy club, mentoring youth boys/girls. In additon to the club, on alternate Wedesdays, several of us work with young men who have gotten into some hot water with the law. Were as the guys from the county family court are on monitor bracelts, the young men we work with in the city family court are housed within the facility. The interaction, questions and feeback we recieve overall, really shows that they are taking something positive from the sessions.

Caring and giving back to our community is the goal of Brother's Keeper SCI.*Remember, if we're not apart of the solution...we're part of the problem.

Thanks for the continued support, Brother's Keeper SCI-PEACE

Hello, I saw your article in the paper and I thought you would be a perfect group to come in and speak with the young people here. I coordinate programs at the Juvenile Detention Center which houses youth who have gotten into trouble with the law and are waiting for their hearings. As you can imagine, many of our youth are either involved with gangs or have committed violent crimes. Your stories might have a great impact on them considering the perspective you bring. Please let me know if you are interested in coming to the Center for a presentation.

I'm glad to see that there's a group of people that really cares about what's going on with our youth as well as putting time in to reach out to the communities. I look forward to getting further involved and helping anyway I can.

I want to thank Brandon and Mr. Smith from Brother's Keepers for talking to our youth at the Evening Reporting Center. The youth really gained a great since of connectedness to choices and consequences from your time with them. We look forward to collaborating with Brother's Keepers in this and future projects.

God Bless you all and stay encouraged you are making a difference!!!
